The York Hill Role-play Community is a virtual community within Second Life based upon a city in the state of South Carolina and it's surrounding areas.
Everyone is welcome here.
York Hill is, foremost, a dedicated Role-play (RP) community and while we do have many premium homes and shops, we do make it publicly known that Role-play is permitted in all public areas in the community. While visiting or living in the community, it is expected that everyone abide by our Community Standards as well as the Second Life Terms of Service (TOS) at all times.
Please be aware of the general rules for York Hill below; these are the core behind our 'Good Neighbor' policy in the community...
1. You will follow any instructions stated by a member of the York Hill Community Staff.
2. Any decision regarding the York Hill Role-play Community made by a member of the Community Staff may supersede written documentation.
3. No Griefing of any kind, this includes the use of any form of scripted attack or magic HUD.
4. No Nudity or Sexual Content in public areas or in any area involving or containing minor avatars.
5. No Trespassing inside privately rented homes without owner's consent for the accompanying role-play.
6. There are no winners or losers in a role-play, the role-play itself is the experience all players should seek.
As we have had many questions regarding avatars in York Hill, we have put together a general overview of our policies regarding avatars below. Please read further down for details on the allowed avatar styles as well as any restrictions or limits applied to each.
• No avatar of any style may claim special or non-realistic powers or abilities beyond that of a normal, realistic, human being.
• Mythical / Fantasy / Futuristic avatars are not permitted in York Hill.
• Furries / Anthropomorphic avatars are permitted in York Hill, however, they are viewed simply as humans for the purpose of role-play.
• Feral Avatars are permitted in York Hill, however, they must remain true to their animal form meaning no human like traits.
• All infant / toddler avatars are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian (Real or NPC'd) while in York Hill and must be true to their chosen age meaning no operating vehicles or other adult activities.
Please note that anything not covered in this Covenant is subject to the review and ruling by a member of the York Hill Management Team as deemed necessary. This document, as the Community itself, is considered a living and evolving document that will be updated as often as is deemed necessary by the Management Team to cover new and evolving situations.

Adult content in the York Hill Role-play Community matches the Linden Lab Terms of Service and is defined as the exposure of genitals and/or nipples. Commercial rentals may not be used for adult activity, nor display any adult content, unless granted permission in writing by the York Hill Management Team.
If such content is restricted to a role-play scene, does not leave the property, is not visible from outside the property, and does not involve the exchange of L$ or items of value, the content may be permitted after review. Residential rentals may be used for adult activity, but any associated IC roleplay chat must be taken to IM instead of local chat, and any adult content must not be visible from outside the property.
Public & common areas may not be used for adult activity.
The following guidelines are made available regarding prim enforcement in the York Hill Role-play Community.
All visitors and residents in the City of York Hill are separated into the following classes depending on their tenancy and permit terms.
Prims are returned upon exceeding these limits as specified below:
• For Visitors & non-present citizens with no active leases, prims are returned citywide immediately.
• For Citizens (as defined as Registered with the Citizen Tag in the York Hill group)
• All citizens are permitted to rez up to 40 prims citywide in the form of a vehicle while the citizen is located in the city, this must be removed prior to leaving the city or it will be returned.
• For Residents (as defined as a Citizen with an active Lease Agreement on a property)
• If over the limit in non-rented areas (the citywide limit), notifications are sent prior to returning items in non-rented areas.
• If over the limit in a rented area, notifications are sent with a 24 hours limit to bring the rented property into alignment with the purchased number of prims, following the 24 hour deadline a final notice will be sent prior to returning the necessary number of prims to return the property to the limit of the rented prims.
• Co-tenant allowances act identically to leases, and such allowances are subtracted from lease limits for the tenant.
For an additional prim allowance for a planned role-play scene, contact York Hill Management.
Note that for the purposes of these guidelines, "prims" refer to "prim equivalence" or "land impact", e.g. the metric which is measured by the land tool's "prim limits".
